My DIY Spring Wardrobe from 2017 by Sewing Daydreams

My DIY Spring Wardrobe from 2017

Spring is almost through here in upstate New York and I am pleased to say that I had a rather productive one!  I got to sew up some pieces that I had been thinking about for a really long time and it feels so good to finally be able to wear them.  I caught up with the talented photographer, Dave Blenis, recently and got to show some of my newest sewing pieces off.  Read through and check out my homemade spring wardrobe pieces from 2017.  After wearing them for some time, I have some new insight into them that I’m going to share here.  From my Red Riding hoodie to my embroidered Bohemian tunic to my Mad Men inspired skirt… Enjoy!

Also, as a side note, my husband enjoyed this spring wardrobe photo shoot because he got to take a brief vacation from being my Instagram Husband.  🙂

I like wearing it open without the self-tie belt as well.

It’s cold where I live, and I want to make something cozy that I can layer on to help keep the chill off.  I also want it to be versatile enough where I can wear it out or wear it in while cuddling on the couch. So, today, we will be making a hooded wrap long sleeved shirt with a self-tie belt at the waist.  Of course, there will be pockets, so no worries there.  Here we go!

Adding Inside Pockets onto a Blazer Sewing Tutorial

DIY – Adding Inside Pockets onto a Blazer

Adding Inside Pockets onto a Blazer Sewing Tutorial Adding Inside Pockets onto a Blazer Sewing Tutorial

Today we’re going to add inside pockets onto a blazer.  I love the blazer, but the pockets that came with it are essentially non-functional.  The opening is a vertical slit and they are only a few inches deep.  I’m pretty sure I would only trust them to hold my chapstick, if that.  So, we will be adding a pair of patch pockets to the inside of the blazer to make it that much more useful.
