I decided to make this d-ring belt tutorial because the first time I made a d-ring belt, I was blown away by how simple and fast it was. It literally took me two minutes and then I had a brand new belt (one which I still wear all the time, mind you, and which you can see at my Double V-Neck Boxy Dress Tutorial, Breezy Trapeze Dress Tutorial, Comfy, Cozy Sweaterdress Tutorial, and Golden Skirt Tutorial). Today, I want to share this easy peasy DIY tutorial with all of you, so read along for my DIY-Two Minute D-Ring Belt tutorial…
The skinny:
Seriously, this is easy. Really, really easy. In the future I may try it again with regular fabric and interfacing which would add a few more steps, but today I will just be using some sturdy pre-made trim that I picked up at Joanne fabrics.
Materials:
- 2 D-Rings
- fabric trim that is long enough for your belt needs (I recommend measuring around your hips and natural waist, taking the longer length and adding 2″ for buffer)
- matching thread
Now onto my Two Minute D-Ring Belt Tutorial
Instructions:
1. Zig zag both ends of your trim, just in case. Take one end of your trim and pass it through the two d-rings, making sure that the flat part of the d-rings are on the back of the trim and the curved parts are on the front of the trim. Fold the trim end on the inside of the two d-rings over wrong side to wrong side.
Pin and sew this in place. Sew this several times to make sure it will stay. (I just want to remind you to use a sewing needle appropriate to the fabric trim thickness)
2. Take the other end of your trim and fold it in, wrong side to wrong side. Pin and sew this in place and repeat several times as well, just in case.
And you are done! I hope you enjoyed my d-ring belt tutorial. You can’t go wrong with a brand new belt 🙂
